제58조(위험방지 등의 조치) 경찰공무원(자치경찰공무원은 제외한다)은 도로의 손괴, 교통사고의 발생이나 그 밖의 사정으로 고속도로등에서 교통이 위험 또는 혼잡하거나 그러할 우려가 있을 때에는 교통의 위험 또는 혼잡을 방지하고 교통의 안전 및 원활한 소통을 확보하기 위하여 필요한 범위에서 진행 중인 자동차의 통행을 일시 금지 또는 제한하거나 그 자동차의 운전자에게 필요한 조치를 명할 수 있다.

① A police official (excluding a self-governing police official) may, when traffic on expressways, etc., is dangerous or congested or is likely to become so due to damage to the road, occurrence of a traffic accident, or other circumstances, temporarily prohibit or restrict the passage of vehicles in transit or order the driver of such a vehicle to take necessary measures, to the extent necessary to prevent danger or congestion of traffic and to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic.
