시ㆍ도경찰청장은 제85조제2항부터 제4항까지, 제86조 또는 제87조제1항에 따라 운전면허증을 발급(이하 이 조 및 제137조의2제2항에서 "운전면허증 발급"이라 한다)하려는 경우에는 운전면허증 발급을 받으려는 사람의 주민등록증(모바일 주민등록증을 포함한다)이나 여권, 그 밖에 행정안전부령으로 정하는 신분증명서의 사진 등을 통하여 본인인지를 확인할 수 있다. <개정 2017.7.26, 2020.12.22, 2023.12.26>
A metropolitan police agency chief shall, when intending to issue a driver's license pursuant to Article 85 (2) through (4), Article 86, or Article 87 (1) (hereinafter referred to as "issuance of driver's license" in this Article and Article 137-2 (2)), verify the identity of the person intending to receive the driver's license through their resident registration card (including mobile resident registration cards), passport, or other identification documents prescribed by the Minister of the Interior and Safety, by comparing photographs, etc. <Amended by Presidential Decree No. 28222, Jul. 26, 2017; Presidential Decree No. 31370, Dec. 22, 2020; Presidential Decree No. 34104, Dec. 26, 2023>
시ㆍ도경찰청장은 제1항에 따른 방법으로 본인인지를 확인하기 어려운 경우에는 운전면허증 발급을 받으려는 사람의 동의를 받아 전자적 방법으로 지문정보를 대조하여 확인할 수 있다. <개정 2020.12.22>
