폐기물처리시설 설치ㆍ운영자, 폐기물처리업자, 폐기물과 관련된 단체 등 대통령령으로 정하는 자는 폐기물에 관한 조사ㆍ연구ㆍ기술개발ㆍ정보보급 등 폐기물분야의 발전을 도모하기 위하여 기후에너지환경부장관의 허가를 받아 한국폐기물협회(이하 "협회"라 한다)를 설립할 수 있다. <개정 2013.7.16, 2025.10.1>
Persons who install or operate waste treatment facilities, waste treatment business operators, organizations related to waste, etc., as prescribed by Presidential Decree, may establish the Korea Waste Management Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Association") with the permission of the Minister of Climate, Energy, and Environment, in order to promote the development of the waste sector, including investigation, research, technology development, and information dissemination regarding waste. <Amended by Act No. 12215, Jul. 16, 2013, Act No. XXXX, Oct. 1, 2025>
협회는 법인으로 한다.
The Association shall be a corporation.
협회는 다음 각 호의 업무를 수행한다. <신설 2013.7.16>
1. 폐기물산업의 발전을 위한 지도 및 조사ㆍ연구
2. 폐기물 관련 홍보 및 교육ㆍ연수
3. 그 밖에 대통령령으로 정하는 업무

협회의 조직ㆍ운영, 그 밖에 필요한 사항은 그 설립목적을 달성하기 위하여 필요한 범위에서 대통령령으로 정한다. <개정 2013.7.16>
The organization and operation of the Association, and other necessary matters shall be prescribed by Presidential Decree within the scope necessary to achieve its establishment purpose. <Amended by Act No. 12215, Jul. 16, 2013>
협회에 관하여 이 법에 규정되지 아니한 사항은 「민법」 중 사단법인에 관한 규정을 준용한다. <개정 2013.7.16>
Matters not provided for in this Act concerning the Association shall be governed by the provisions on incorporated associations in the Civil Act. <Amended by Act No. 12215, Jul. 16, 2013>
