자동차의 운전자는 고속도로등에서 자동차의 고장 등 부득이한 사정이 있는 경우를 제외하고는 행정안전부령으로 정하는 차로에 따라 통행하여야 하며, 갓길(「도로법」에 따른 길어깨를 말한다)로 통행하여서는 아니 된다. 다만, 다음 각 호의 어느 하나에 해당하는 경우에는 그러하지 아니하다. <개정 2013.3.23, 2014.11.19, 2017.7.26, 2019.12.24>
1. 긴급자동차와 고속도로등의 보수ㆍ유지 등의 작업을 하는 자동차를 운전하는 경우
2. 차량정체 시 신호기 또는 경찰공무원등의 신호나 지시에 따라 갓길에서 자동차를 운전하는 경우
The driver of an automobile shall travel in the lane designated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, except in cases of unavoidable circumstances such as the breakdown of the automobile on an expressway or the like, and shall not travel on the shoulder (meaning the shoulder according to the 「Road Act」).
