자동차의 운전자는 고속도로등에서 자동차의 고장 등 부득이한 사정이 있는 경우를 제외하고는 행정안전부령으로 정하는 차로에 따라 통행하여야 하며, 갓길(「도로법」에 따른 길어깨를 말한다)로 통행하여서는 아니 된다. 다만, 다음 각 호의 어느 하나에 해당하는 경우에는 그러하지 아니하다. <개정 2013.3.23, 2014.11.19, 2017.7.26, 2019.12.24>
1. 긴급자동차와 고속도로등의 보수ㆍ유지 등의 작업을 하는 자동차를 운전하는 경우
2. 차량정체 시 신호기 또는 경찰공무원등의 신호나 지시에 따라 갓길에서 자동차를 운전하는 경우
A driver of a motor vehicle shall drive in the lane designated by the Ordinance of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, except in unavoidable circumstances such as a breakdown of the motor vehicle on an expressway, etc., and shall not drive on the shoulder (referring to the roadside shoulder under the 「Road Act」). When driving an emergency vehicle or a vehicle engaged in work such as repair or maintenance of an expressway, etc. 2. When driving a motor vehicle on the shoulder in accordance with the signals or directions of a traffic signal or a police officer, etc., during traffic congestion.
자동차의 운전자는 고속도로에서 다른 차를 앞지르려면 방향지시기, 등화 또는 경음기를 사용하여 행정안전부령으로 정하는 차로로 안전하게 통행하여야 한다. <개정 2013.3.23, 2014.11.19, 2017.7.26>
A driver of a motor vehicle shall safely drive in the lane designated by the Ordinance of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety using a turn signal, lights, or horn when overtaking another vehicle on an expressway. <Amended by Act No. 11723, Mar. 23, 2013; Act No. 12844, Nov. 19, 2014; Act No. 14838, Jul. 26, 2017>
