제25조의4(의료폐기물 처리에 관한 특례) 기후에너지환경부장관은 의료폐기물 중간처분 또는 종합처분을 업으로 하는 자의 시설ㆍ장비 또는 사업장의 부족으로 의료폐기물의 원활한 처분이 어려워 국민건강 및 환경에 위해를 끼칠 우려가 있는 경우 환경 오염이나 인체 위해도가 낮은 의료폐기물로서 대통령령으로 정하는 의료폐기물에 한정하여 이를 기후에너지환경부령으로 정하는 바에 따라 지정폐기물 중간처분 또는 종합처분을 업으로 하는 자에게 처분하게 할 수 있다. <개정 2025.10.1>

① The Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment may, when the smooth treatment of medical waste is difficult due to a shortage of facilities, equipment, or workplaces of those who are engaged in the business of intermediate or comprehensive treatment of medical waste, and there is a risk of harm to public health and the environment, allow the treatment of medical waste, limited to medical waste with low environmental pollution or human health risk as prescribed by Presidential Decree, by those who are engaged in the business of intermediate or comprehensive treatment of designated waste, in accordance with the provisions prescribed by the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment. <Amended on October 1, 2025>
