법무부장관은 외국인의 사회통합을 지원하기 위하여 법무부령으로 정하는 바에 따라 지방출입국ㆍ외국인관서에 사회통합 자원봉사위원(이하 "사회통합위원"이라 한다)을 둘 수 있다.
The Minister of Justice may, in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Justice Ordinance, establish Social Integration Volunteer Committee Members (hereinafter referred to as "Social Integration Committee Members") at the local immigration and foreign affairs offices to support the social integration of foreigners.
사회통합위원은 다음 각 호의 직무를 수행한다.
1. 외국인 및 고용주 등의 법 준수를 위한 홍보활동
2. 외국인이 한국사회의 건전한 사회구성원으로 정착하기 위한 체류 지원
3. 영주자격 및 국적을 취득하려는 자에 대한 지원
4. 그 밖에 대한민국 국민과 국내 체류 외국인의 사회통합을 위하여 법무부장관이 정하는 사항
Social Integration Committee Members shall perform the following duties: 1. Public relations activities for foreigners and employers, etc. to comply with the law 2. Support for the sojourn of foreigners to settle as sound members of Korean society 3. Support for those who wish to acquire permanent residency status and nationality 4. Other matters determined by the Minister of Justice for the social integration of Korean nationals and foreigners residing in the Republic of Korea
사회통합위원은 명예직으로 하되 직무수행에 필요한 비용의 전부 또는 일부를 지급할 수 있다.
Social Integration Committee Members shall serve on a voluntary basis, but all or part of the expenses necessary for the performance of their duties may be paid.
사회통합위원의 위촉 및 해촉, 정원, 자치 조직, 비용의 지급, 그 밖에 필요한 사항은 법무부령으로 정한다.
The appointment and dismissal, fixed number, autonomous organization, payment of expenses, and other necessary matters concerning Social Integration Committee Members shall be determined by the Ministry of Justice Ordinance.
