복수국적자로서 제12조제1항 본문에 규정된 기간 내에 대한민국 국적을 선택하려는 자는 외국 국적을 포기하거나 법무부장관이 정하는 바에 따라 대한민국에서 외국 국적을 행사하지 아니하겠다는 뜻을 서약하고 법무부장관에게 대한민국 국적을 선택한다는 뜻을 신고할 수 있다. <개정 2010.5.4>
A person with dual nationality who intends to choose the nationality of the Republic of Korea within the period prescribed in the main sentence of Article 12 (1) may renounce their foreign nationality, or swear an oath to the effect that they will not exercise their foreign nationality in the Republic of Korea as prescribed by the Minister of Justice, and report their intention to choose the nationality of the Republic of Korea to the Minister of Justice. <Amended by Act No. 10275, May 4, 2010>
복수국적자로서 제12조제1항 본문에 규정된 기간 후에 대한민국 국적을 선택하려는 자는 외국 국적을 포기한 경우에만 법무부장관에게 대한민국 국적을 선택한다는 뜻을 신고할 수 있다. 다만, 제12조제3항제1호의 경우에 해당하는 자는 그 경우에 해당하는 때부터 2년 이내에는 제1항에서 정한 방식으로 대한민국 국적을 선택한다는 뜻을 신고할 수 있다. <신설 2010.5.4>
A person with dual nationality who intends to choose the nationality of the Republic of Korea after the period prescribed in the main sentence of Article 12 (1) may report their intention to choose the nationality of the Republic of Korea to the Minister of Justice only if they have renounced their foreign nationality. However, a person falling under subparagraph 1 of Article 12 (3) may report their intention to choose the nationality of the Republic of Korea in the manner prescribed in paragraph (1) within two years from the time they fall under that case. <Newly Inserted by Act No. 10275, May 4, 2010>
제1항 및 제2항 단서에도 불구하고 출생 당시에 모가 자녀에게 외국 국적을 취득하게 할 목적으로 외국에서 체류 중이었던 사실이 인정되는 자는 외국 국적을 포기한 경우에만 대한민국 국적을 선택한다는 뜻을 신고할 수 있다. <신설 2010.5.4>
Notwithstanding paragraphs (1) and (2) proviso, a person who is recognized to have stayed in a foreign country at the time of birth for the purpose of having their mother acquire foreign nationality may report their intention to choose the nationality of the Republic of Korea only if they have renounced their foreign nationality. <Newly Inserted by Act No. 10275, May 4, 2010>
제1항부터 제3항까지의 규정에 따른 신고의 수리(受理) 요건, 신고 절차, 그 밖에 필요한 사항은 대통령령으로 정한다. <개정 2010.5.4>
