제16조 국적상실자의 처리

대한민국 국적을 상실한 자(제14조에 따른 국적이탈의 신고를 한 자는 제외한다)는 법무부장관에게 국적상실신고를 하여야 한다.
A person who has lost Korean nationality (excluding a person who has reported renunciation of nationality under Article 14) shall report the loss of nationality to the Minister of Justice.
공무원이 그 직무상 대한민국 국적을 상실한 자를 발견하면 지체 없이 법무부장관에게 그 사실을 통보하여야 한다.
If a public official discovers a person who has lost Korean nationality in the course of performing his or her duties, the public official shall notify the Minister of Justice of such fact without delay.
법무부장관은 그 직무상 대한민국 국적을 상실한 자를 발견하거나 제1항이나 제2항에 따라 국적상실의 신고나 통보를 받으면 가족관계등록 관서와 주민등록 관서에 통보하여야 한다.
Upon discovering a person who has lost Korean nationality in the course of performing his or her duties, or upon receiving a report or notification of the loss of nationality under paragraph ① or ②, the Minister of Justice shall notify the family relationship registration office and the resident registration office.
제1항부터 제3항까지의 규정에 따른 신고 및 통보의 절차와 그 밖에 필요한 사항은 대통령령으로 정한다.
The procedures for reporting and notification under paragraphs ① to ③, and other necessary matters shall be prescribed by Presidential Decree.
