ARTICLE 19 (Self-payment of Costs)

The rate and amount of the co-payment (hereinafter referred to as "co-payment") under Article 44 (1) of the Act shall be as specified in Appendix 2.

The total amount of the co-payment under Article 44 (2) 1 of the Act shall be the sum of all co-payments paid annually by the person receiving medical benefits. However, the following co-payments shall not be included in the sum: <Amended by June 26, 2018, April 2, 2019, June 11, 2019, October 22, 2019, October 7, 2020, June 29, 2021, June 20, 2023, November 7, 2023, April 19, 2024, August 20, 2024> 1. The amount paid as hospitalization fees for using the general inpatient rooms of 2 or 3 beds in tertiary general hospitals, general hospitals, hospitals, traditional Korean medicine hospitals, nursing hospitals (limited to nursing hospitals that meet the requirements of Article 3-2 of the Medical Service Act as rehabilitation medical facilities for persons with disabilities under Article 58 (1) 4 of the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, etc.), psychiatric hospitals, and inpatient rooms of 2 or 3 beds in psychiatric hospitals, as specified in Appendix 2, Article 1 (a) 1). 1 of 2. The amount paid under Article 1 (b) or Article 3 (n) of the same Appendix for outpatient treatment received at a tertiary general hospital for a main disease or injury designated and notified by the Minister of Health and Welfare under Article 1 (c) 3) of Appendix 2. However, amounts paid by the following persons shall be excluded: a. Pregnant women b. Persons under 6 years of age c. Patients exempted from drug prescription division under Article 1 (b) of Appendix 2 d. Persons who received infertility treatment designated and notified by the Minister of Health and Welfare under Article 1 (c) of Appendix 2 e. Recipients of medical support under the following legal provisions: 1) Article 33 of the Act on the Honoring and Establishment of Organizations for the May 18 Democratic Pro-democracy Patriots 2) Article 6 (2) of the Act on the Support of Patients and Establishment of Organizations for the Recognition of War Sickness, etc. 3) Article 41 of the Act on the Honoring and Support of National Meritorious Persons, etc. 4) Article 17 of the Act on the Honoring of Independence Patriots 5) Article 50 of the Act on the Support of Persons Eligible for National Defense Compensation 6) Article 20 of the Act on Support for Discharged Soldiers 7) Article 7 of the Act on the Honoring and Establishment of Organizations for War Veterans 8) Article 32 of the Act on the Honoring and Establishment of Organizations for Special Duty Patriots 2. The amount paid under Article 3 (d) 5), 6), 9), and 10) of Appendix 2. 3. The amount paid under Article 3 (h) and (gg) of Appendix 2. 4. The amount paid under Article 4 of Appendix 2. 4 of 2. The amount paid under Article 5 of 2 of Appendix 2. 5. The amount paid under Article 6 of Appendix 2.

When the Corporation pays an amount exceeding the maximum co-payment amount pursuant to the latter part of the main clause of Article 44 (2) of the Act, it shall be paid to the deposit account designated by the party concerned (including deposit accounts opened at postal offices under the 「Postal Savings and Insurance Act」 and banks under the 「Banking Act」, and other deposit accounts designated by the Minister of Health and Welfare). However, if there are unavoidable reasons why payment cannot be made to the designated deposit account, payment may be made in a manner prescribed by the Minister of Health and Welfare. <Amended by June 11, 2019, November 7, 2023, August 20, 2024>
